Dia would never, ever admit it out loud, but she's excited.
Today, after several years of pining, keeping her feelings to herself and not having very high expectations for anything to come out of them-- is her first date. With Mari. She's still reeling from the thought of- Mari likes her. Seriously, truly likes her back. Mari, who she didn't think she'd ever see again after she left two years ago, whose absence she accepted after these two lonely years. came back. It seems like only yesterday she was just reeling from how strongly Dia and Kanan both could feel her absence. And it's as if right as she's finally accepted it, along with the thought that she'd never have a chance with her, Mari returns.
And if everything that happened since then wasn't enough- getting to be a school idol again, getting to do it with her beloved sister- her impulsively sending Mari a message in the middle of the night in a very rare moment of vulnerability and loneliness led to this. Because she just had such an urge and craving for her company, that she'd settle for just getting to talk to her over text.
To think it ended with a confession. Not quite how Dia pictured it going- less romantic over text, and Dia's mental image of how confessions should go are far more scenic and atmospheric and a bit more exciting than they are embarrassing, but nothing about this was planned, anyway. It was impulsive, reckless, not very proper, really, but... the end result was all worth it.
The end result is this: Dia standing restlessly at their planned meeting spot on Numazu station, waiting for Mari. Much as she's doing her best, her usual perfect, statuesque posture is nowhere to be seen; she's visibly excited, pacing and humming to herself while staring into the distance with a dreamy, unfocused expression. It's difficult to concentrate on her image and how she appears in public with the overwhelming thrill and anticipation.
